What a nice surprise it was to receive a new photo of Mugsy. I haven't seen this guy in awhile. He is a handsome son of Gia and Jigs and brother to our Gage. It is reported that he has a good friend named Bella. Bella is a cat. Mugsy's other great friend is a female named Elz but she is the same species as he. Good boy Mugs!

Mary, Teddy and Cassidy

It is so much fun each year to receive a photo of these three. Cassidy is a dog from my first litter, nearly 13 years ago. Mary was only about three years old at that time and Teddy around seven. They have done a wonderful job loving Cassidy and giving her a wonderful life. There are some breeders that do not like to place a puppy with families with young children, but from the first time I met these two, I knew things would be fine. They were so polite and well behaved. They are now beautiful young adults. Thanks guys for taking such good care of Cassidy.

The Look--A Christmas Story

Those of you with dogs have probably seen "the look". Yesterday was Christmas Eve and we had family here celebrating. I had the dogs blocked from the living room so they wouldn't interfere with the gift opening. Gage kept coming to the gate and giving me "the look". After the third time, I decided I had better go check to see what he was telling me. On entering the kitchen I discovered the problem. It seems that his mother Gia and our guest dog Boomer each had a corner of the table cloth and were gently pulling the food toward the edge. I think they were being easy to keep from being caught. Drats! That little tattle tale Gage ratted them out. And now he is worn out and dreaming of his reward.

Gage & Littermates turn 6

This past Saturday Gage and his litter mates celebrated another birthday. How quickly those six years have gone. I was so pleased to hear from some of the owners and to receive these two photos. The first is sister Pager. Melissa reports that she is a wonderful girl. She always does what she is asked and does it without hesitation. They could not love her more.

Eden also had a great report. Sheila says he is such a joy and they love him very much. It is so nice to hear about our "Kingdom Kidz" and know that they are doing well.

Here is Mama Gia. She too is a joy to live with. She and Gage bring sunshine to my life daily.

Doggie Love

It was a very Happy Thanksgiving for Gage. Our sons family is fostering a German Short Hair Pointer and they brought her along to spend some time with our family. Gage immediately fell in love with Greta. He spent the last two days trying to make her realize that he is the man for her. They were fun to watch. Gia was very relaxed with Greta too. Though Gia didn't play with her, she seemed content to watch as Greta and Gage played.

Geno Celebrates Halloween

I was so pleased to receive some pictures of Geno and to hear how well he is doing. JoAnna reports that he is very much loved and a bit spoiled. Here he is with his very own spotted pumpkin for Halloween.

JoAnna also sent this great picture of hand/paw from Geno and herself. What a great shot! They both have lovely nails. Geno is from the Gia/Tolliver litter. They will be celebrating their 4th birthday next month.

Another Title for Jazz

There is no stopping this girl. Lisa and Jim are so proud of this hard working little brown girl and we are proud of all of them. Jim has been running Jazz in agility and the two of them qualify on nearly every run and place in the ribbons as well. Jazz and Lisa have also completed 6 of the 10 RAE wins that they need for that championship. To top all of that off, Jazz and Lisa have now received Jazz' Obedience Companion Dog title with another first place win. What a great team! Congratulations to you all.

My Heart is Blessed

Gage and I had pet therapy at the home this morning. It is always such a blessing to share this sweet dog with others. Today was a very special blessing. The woman in this picture is a new resident and she is blind. When she was brought to the area where we do our visits, I was told that she was unsure about coming because she would not be able to see what was going on. Unsolicited by anyone Gage gently climbed up on the couch next to her and wiggled his butt right into her. As she petted and felt him all over, I described to her what he looked like. She then said, " today I saw and what I see is a magnificent animal". How blessed my heart was by that.

The other thing that happened was that one of my favorite residents recently spent two weeks in the hospital. She has been back at the home for a couple of weeks but has refused to leave her room because she is now confined to a wheel chair. When we arrived I asked about her and was told that she would not come out. I asked one of the staff if they would just go tell her that Gage was there to see her. By golly, it wasn't long and there she came wheeling herself out to the group. I was thrilled and so was the staff. What a blessing this little spotted dog is to so many.

AKC Therapy Dog

We here at Kingdom Dalmatians are so proud of our resident therapy dogs. Both Gia and Gage do such a great job of bringing smiles to others. Gage was among the first dog of any breed to receive the new AKC therapy title.

High In Trial!

What a thrill to hear more good news from Jenn. She and Steeler have been out competing in both obedience and agility and are doing a great job. Here is the report from this weekend.

Steeler qualified in 4 out of 4 trials this weekend to earn his CDSP Novice title (CD-C) and competed in Novice C to earn legs towards his championship title. He won the Novice C class with a 198 (out of 200) and also got High in Trial. So now he is Kingdom's Thief of Hearts, CGC, TDI, RN, RL-1, CD-C

We are so proud of this team for all they have accomplished but mostly proud for how much Jenn loves her boy. Great job!

Gia Does Pet Therapy

Little Miss Gia brought many smiles this week during a pet therapy session. The staff was so pleased to hear one of the residents actually laugh out loud when she saw Gia wearing her tutu. They had never even seen this particular resident smile. It is so rewarding when you know that these dogs can bring so much joy to others. Gia did a great job, doing tricks and letting the old folks pet to their hearts content. Good girl G.

Another National Triumph

We are so proud of the Bauer girls for their second place win in brace obedience at the DCA National competition. I understand that these two even walked in sinc as they traveled around the ring. Though Tess (black spotted) is not an official Kingdom Dal, we have claimed her as one of our own and love her too. Brown girl, Jazz, was born here and always makes us so proud. She and owner Lisa work so beautifully together in all that they pursue. Both girls went on to compete individually in obedience and agility and came away with some qualifying scores and some placement ribbons.

Jazz also competed in the DCA road trial and came away with another title behind her name. She is the first Kingdom Dalmatian to ever earn a road dog title. It was a very muddy day but Jazz showed them that even a Princess can compete through the mud when necessary. Congratulations to the entire Bauer family for a job well done!

Steeler At The National

Steeler Dog strikes again! Jenn and Steeler recently competed at The Dalmatian Club of Americas National and came away winners. Steeler had qualifying scores in both obedience and agility. He also took two seconds and a third place ribbon in the process. Steeler is from the Gia/Jigs litter. How proud we are of this great team. Way to go guys!

Champion Daddy

This handsome guy is Tolliver. While I am not his breeder, I did breed him to my girl Gia for her last litter. The two of them produced ten lovely puppies that are now two years old. I also had the pleasure to show this sweet dog on several occasions and was thrilled to be at the end of the lead this week as he earned his AKC championship. Tolliver is co-owned by Nanci Good and Barb Allison. Barb was also his co-breeder. Congratulations to all concerned! Especially to CH. Rim Rock N Siobahn Have A Ball.

More Pet Therapy Fun

What fun to have Gia joined by her son Peet and daughter Jazz for a pet therapy session at the home today. These are three dogs to be very proud of. Not only were the residents amazed by how well they all behaved, I think we owners were just as impressed. These three wonderful dogs shared their time, talents and love to bring smiles and entertainment to this large group.

Gia receives a massage from one of the staff. How wonderful to see this once shy dog so readily accept strangers.

Some of the residents chose to have their pictures taken with the dogs. All three dogs were very patient during the photo session.

They say, like father, like son. Here is a good example of that. This is Ryan. He is a Gia /Tolliver son. I was so pleased to get some pictures and know that he is doing well. I hear he likes to watch sports on TV and has a favorite chair. If someone sits in his chair, he just sits in their lap. Charlie and Michelle are doing a wonderful job with this sweet boy.

Zoe had the opportunity to bring some joy to the folks at Green Meadows today. She doesn't go often but always brings smiles to many faces as she moves from person to person to be petted. I am not sure who enjoys that more, Zoe or the people. They love that though she is 14 in dog years, she is their age in human years. They say that they understand about not hearing or seeing as well and having to pee more often. That just makes them love her more. Good girl Zoe!

Santa brought me a new camera for Christmas and I have been having a grand time learning how to use it. The dogs have made great subjects for me to practice on. They see me take the lens cover off and look at each other and roll their eyes--- they know what's coming. Here are shots that I took today of Gia and Gage, to transfer onto a canvas bag. I will use the bag to carry treats to share with the residents at the home where we do pet therapy.

Steeler Dog Stikes Again

Not only did Steeler qualify this past weekend for an APDT Rally leg, he earned three in one day. Here is what Jenn had to say about it.
Steeler earned his RL-1 (APDT RALLY Level 1) title in three straight trials on Saturday Dec 19th at the Monadnock Humane Society in Keene, NH. He got progressively better with each run earning scores of 189, 200, and 195! A perfect score is 200.

Nice job guys. You two make a great team!

Jennifer sent this great picture of Steeler as he gazes out the window. You may notice the big heart on his shoulder. I think that heart belongs to Jenn, as I know this dog has stolen her heart. I love that Jenn keeps him in such a good weight and in great condition.

Here are some recent shots of three of the dogs from the Twelve days off Christmas litter. The first is of the very handsome Luka. Luka was the biggest puppy in the litter. He went to live with Steve & Kim. Even though they thought they wanted a girl at the time, they took one look at his beautiful face and fell in love.

The next picture is of Mugsy. He was the quiet puppy in the litter that liked to sit back and watch as his littermates tormented each other. He is the very much loved and maybe a little spoiled dog of John & Libby.

This last picture is of Pager. Pager was the first champion from this litter and always showed her heart out for owner Melissa. Melissa owns three Dalmatian's, the youngest being a puppy of Pager's. Here is what she says about Christmas at their house.

Little Miss Bailey wants to know what's up with all of her littermates. I hear from her owner that Bailey is more than she had hoped for. She has loads of energy and is a bit of a handful. Once again some of my Dal friends and I headed to some UKC shows for the weekend. We are pleased to announce that Gage, his cousin Bizzi and nephew Ryder all achieved their UKC championships. Ryder is a Gambit son and is shown here on the left. Gage & Bizzi (center) are both now duel champions, as they also have their AKC championships. Ryder is not far behind even though he is not even a year old. What fun and what great dogs!

Yesterday the Greater Pittsburgh Dalmatian Club had their Fun Day In The Park. The theme for the day was "A Day At The Circus". What fun for all. After Jazz and her housemate Tess performed their very cute circus act for everyone, we all had a chance to get some pictures. Here is a very special shot of mother and daughter. I learned this weekend that Gage is the number five Dalmatian in the country with the UKC so far for this year. He also ended up in the top 50 Dalmatians with the AKC for last year. He is ALWAYS top dog in my heart.

Jazz Performs CPE Agility

In only Jazz's second CPE trial, she qualified and placed in five out of six runs, earning her Standard Level 1, Handler Games Level 1, and Fun Games Level 1 titles! What a great agility team. Lisa and Jazz are doing so well and having so much fun along the way, as Jazz continues to gain confidence. Great job girls!

Joey Does It Again

Agility Dog

Among Jazz' other talents, she is becoming quite the agility dog. This picture was taken at a recent trial where she showed the crowd how it is done. Lisa is doing a wonderful job with this lovely little brown dog. They have earned a rally obedience title, as well as her Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog titles and are well on their way to an agility title in Canine Performance Events. Jazz is a Gia/Tolliver daughter. She is not yet two years old. Great job girls!

Our Zoe turned 14 today. Though she isn't crazy about having her picture taken, she is still the picture of health. Her hearing is not the best but all other functions are still working well. She was so proud to be back in the show ring last month and earned a second place ribbon in the veteran class. Zoe was our first champion and the mother of two lovely litters in her younger days. She is still the guardian of all things outside of our fence.

Fun At UKC

Gage and I, along with several of my Dal Pals decided to give the UKC shows a try this past weekend. What a great time we all had. Gage came away from the weekend with 90 points and two competition wins. He needs 10 more points and one more competition win to become a UKC champion. He was Best of Winners twice, Best of Breed once and a Group 2 winner once. We are very proud of this sweet, lovable dog.

Received word that Jazz completed the requirements for her Rally Novice title today. To make that even more special, she did it with a first place win. Way to go Jazz and Lisa. Jazz is just a year and a half old and has already earned several designations. She is now known as "Kingdom's All That Jazz, RN, CGC, TDI". I am sure there will be many more titles to come as she continues to compete in rally obedience and agility. Jazz is loved, trained and expertly (well most of the time) handled by Lisa Bauer. What a great team!

I have been tagged by Lisa to tell how Gia, the mother of my last two litters, came into my life. In 2003, the first time I had heard about the litter that Gia came from was when my friend and fellow breeder Barb Allison and I were traveling to a dog show. Barb received a call on her cell phone from another fellow breeder that had just whelped a new litter from a very sweet Dal named Sweetie. Barb's Garrett was the daddy. That breeder was Jeff Gillespie and he was describing what he was seeing in the litter. The one little female he described as being a spitten image of her mother. I said, "that one's mine". Of course I knew I couldn't have one as I limit myself to three dogs and at that time I had three. Weeks went by and when those pups turned eight weeks, Barb and I headed to a parking lot that was half way between where we lived and where Jeff lived. Jeff was bringing a couple of puppies for Barb to choose from. Jeff got this funny looking little darkly marked puppy, that had a big sore on her head, out of his van (Gia, known to Jeff as Girl Friend). He also got out a lovely lightly marked female that had some missing eye trim. We let the puppies run around on the parking lot as we were trying to see who might have the best movement. I could not take my eyes off of Girl Friend as she flew around that lot. Barb was more inclined to take the prettier open marked puppy but she asked my opinion. I pointed to Girl Friend and said, "THAT ONE". Barb hesitated but finally gave in and we gathered up little Girl Friend and headed home. Barb soon renamed her funny little puppy Gia. In the coming weeks I ended up placing my youngest female Envy with my granddaughter, who had loved her from the day she was born. I then was down to two dogs. Weeks went by and Barb was heading to a show for the weekend. I was not going to that show so I offered to take care of four month old Gia while she was away. I brought Gia into my home for the first time and we all immediately fell in love with her. The weekend ended and I took Gia back to Barb's house. I was telling Barb how much we loved that sweet little puppy and she said, "do you want her?" I was stunned, but my answer was a resounding YES. I gathered up my sweet, funny looking little girl and headed home. Gia has been such a wonderful blessing in our home and has produced 22 lovely puppies for us, including our beloved Gage. I thank Barb for all that she has taught me about showing and breeding but most of all, for sharing this sweet girl with me. I now tag Barb to tell us about Gia's daddy Garrett and what he means to her.

Grandma

Does this look like a grandma to you? Gia is now the grandmother of 23. Daughter Gambit gave birth to her second litter earlier this month. She had nine puppies--7 girls and 2 boys. We are excited to report that this litter is from the backcross project and three of the puppies from this litter have normal uric acid. Today another daughter, Pager, gave birth to eight puppies. There are 5 girls and 3 boys. Mother and babies are doing well. Pager is owned and loved by Melissa Cimra.

Little Jazz earned her first qualifying score in Rally Obedience yesterday! It was the first time in the rally ring for both Jazz and her owner Lisa. To make it even more special they took a second place ribbon. What a great team these two young ladies are. We are looking for many more ribbons from them in both rally and agility. Congratulations girls!

Joey Does It Again

We were so proud of Joey this weekend as he competed in Rally Obedience. He qualified both Saturday and Sunday in Rally Advanced and earned his second and third legs toward his Advanced title. I received this very cute Valentine card today from JoAnna and Geno. Joanna tells me that the photo studio asked her permission to put the Valentine picture up on a Steelers board and wanted to display another of him alone and another of her and Geno in their Penguin gear in the store as well. JoAnna also told me that there was a lady in the store that told her that Geno was the most beautiful Dalmatian that she had ever seen. These two are a very photogenic pair.

Two New Canine Good Citizens

An exciting day today as two Kingdom kids earn their Canine Good Citizen designations. While Peet & Jazz are only 9 1/2 months old, they showed the older dogs how it is done, as they passed the AKC Canine Good Citizens test with flying colors. They also passed the therapy dog test but will have to wait until they are a year old and retest to become registered therapy dogs. They are pictured here with the judges that tested them today.

We are very proud to announce Kingdom Dalmatians newest Champion. On June 28th 2008 at the Bushy Run Kennel Club show, Gage was Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed, to finish his championship. To make his finish even more special, he took a group 4 placement that day and again the following day. He will now be known as CH.Kingdom's Twist of Fate CGC, TDI.
